National Reconciliation Week (May 27-June 3) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconciliation Australia’s theme for this year is ‘More than a word. Reconciliation takes action’ and urges the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action. Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2021 National Reconciliation Week theme graphics were drawn from the artwork ‘Action’ by Jessica Johnson, who is a descendant of the Warumungu/Wombaya people north of Tennant Creek.

The artwork was commissioned by Reconciliation Australia in association with ‘33 Creative’ and was provided as a colouring-in activity resource to ‘Colour for Reconciliation’.

Our Social Support Group clients regularly take part in colouring-in activities to improve motor skills and vision and train the brain to focus and coloured in the artwork provided by Reconciliation Australia in their own colourful way to make reconciliation more than a word.
