Timboon Tomorrow – priorities for a healthier future

In the next few weeks, the Timboon District Health Service (TDHS) will consult with health professionals, patients and the wider community on their priorities for the prevention of chronic disease and promotion of health, in our communities.

TDHS has engaged OMC Group, a team of community and health specialists to identify and confirm key challenges and opportunities for Timboon District Health Services as part of its strategic planning process.

The TDHS provides health and community services to the towns and rural areas of Timboon, Cobden, Nullawarre, Port Campbell, Princetown, Peterborough and Simpson; providing care to a population of over 7,000 people.

TDHS has a proud history and the intent of Timboon Tomorrow-priorities for a healthier future is to listen to the community, be proactive and ensure the service provision is relevant and sustainable.

TDHS’ Board Chair, Maryanne Puli Vogels, has said:
“The healthcare system, in particular rural health, is complex and ever-changing. Therefore it is essential that the community provides their feedback on the provision of healthcare locally. The Board is focused on the next critical five years and wants to ensure the needs and priorities of the community are reflected in this next strategic plan.”

The TDHS board is committed to maximising the opportunity for input. OMC group is organising a range of ways for people to share their thoughts on creating a healthier region. These include;

Online survey which can be accessed from the TDHS website and Facebook page.
Paper-based surveys that can be collected and returned to the TDHS reception.

Findings from the Timboon Tomorrow-priorities for a healthier future campaign will assist the Board in drafting its next five-year strategic plan and will guide the provision of local health services for the next 10-15 years.

TDHS’ CEO, Gerry Sheehan, said “We want to ensure we are being proactive and helping our population to maintain their health. We can only do this in partnership with the community and as such listening to Timboon community today is vital to the success of Timboon District Health Service tomorrow.”
