31 Aug The Voice. It’s Your Choice!
On Saturday, 14th October 2023, Australians will have their say in a referendum about whether to change the Australian Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing a body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice would be an independent and permanent advisory body. It would give advice to the Australian Parliament and Government on matters that affect the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
For many people, the referendum is a sensitive topic with deep personal meaning.
As information is being gathered and conversations are being held, it is important to respect the perspectives and beliefs of others. It’s about showing kindness in interactions and being mindful in allowing others the space to make their own choices, even if those choices differ from yours.
