18 Jan The Compass Trial 2017
2017 is destined to be a big year for cervical cancer screening in Australia. 1 May 2017 marks the introduction of the new 5-yearly Cervical Screening Test (CST) Australia wide. This test replaces the 2-yearly Pap smear. Women will be able to enjoy the benefits of fewer screening tests and greater peace of mind.
The Compass Trial is still in full swing across Victoria with over 60,000 women enrolled and almost 500 clinics involved in recruiting women – TDHS is one of these. This trial is the largest clinical trial ever conducted in Australia.
The Compass team is still recruiting women and would like you to join in this trial if you are:
- A Victorian or South Australian female resident born on or after 1 July 1980 AND aged at least 25 years
- Either:
- undergoing routine cervical screening
- in follow-up or management of previous abnormality or unsatisfactory Pap smear
- previously enrolled in the Compass Pilot but discharged to routine screening
