26 Apr Pop-up consultation guides TDHS strategic planning process
Over 200 people recently participated in pop-up community consultation delivered by the Conversation Caravan on behalf of Timboon and District Healthcare Service (TDHS).
The consultation is being delivered as part of Timboon Tomorrow – priorities for a healthier future – an initiative of TDHS. Timboon Tomorrow is a campaign by the TDHS Board to better understand the current health priorities for the region.
The Consultation Caravan visited Timboon’s main street, the Timboon Shared Community Library and the Timboon Demons Football Netball Club on Thursday 19 April.
Participants completed activities including rating their health and identifying health priorities both for themselves as individuals and for the wider community.
Attendees also made individual health commitments for the next 12 months.
By far the biggest health priorities were:
- Eating healthy and improving mental health (awareness, prevention and treatment)
- The most common health commitment was improving nutrition and moving more.
Visitors to the Conversation Caravan also had the chance to win some great prizes supplied by local businesses including the Timboon Provedore, The Corner Store and Milk and Honey.
Winners of these prizes were Wendy Rodgers, Angus Orr and Ryan Jones.
The caravan and survey are part of a comprehensive analysis including demographics and health service usage data plus tracking hospital admissions across Victoria for our local people to establish where they are treated and for what conditions.
Findings from the Timboon Tomorrow project will assist the Board in drafting its next five-year strategic plan and will guide the provision of local health services in accordance with health policy, organisational capacity and funding parameters.
