Introducing Ann-Marie

On 16 December Timboon and District Healthcare Service welcomed the first visit of Ann-Marie, our dairy community support worker who will be visiting TDHS regularly throughout the first half of 2017.   Ann-Marie is an accredited social worker and qualified mental health counsellor employed by Colac Area Health.  She will be available to have a (free) confidential chat at any time and place that suits you. This service is for anyone who has been affected by the dairy industry downturn – farmers, contractors, labourers, milkers, truck drivers, retailers, family and community members. Come have a chat!

Give Ann-Marie a call on (03) 5232 5244 or 0447 321 599 to arrange a convenient time and place for you to meet.

Ann-Marie is going to be at TDHS on the following dates between 8:30am and 11:30am:

16th and 30th December

13th and 27th January

10th and 24th February

10th and 24th March

Ann-Marie provides:

  • Counselling and support
  • Assists in obtaining grants
  • Offers parenting and relationship support
  • Makes referrals to more specialist services

As dairy community support worker, Ann-Marie travels extensively throughout the region.  Her role covers the area from Cobden – Torquay – Inverleigh – Cressy and down to the coast, with an office at Colac Area Health.

Ann Marie works closely with a diverse range of locals including field officers from the factories, community centre coordinators and local organisations.  She is often out and about engaging directly with people who have contacted her.  This week Ann-Marie has been delivering hampers to farmers throughout the region.  She’s also involved in developing a women’s discussion group at Neighbourhood House in Colac that will kick off in the new year with a pamper session.

Ann-Marie is happy to meet where and when it best suits you; that could be early on before you start work, in the dairy while you’re milking, over a coffee in a quiet café, or maybe at your home in the evening.   There is no obligation or prescribed number of meetings; you can stop at any time.
