12 May International Nurses Day
May 12 is International Nurses Day. The theme, set by the International Council of Nurses, is nurses: a voice to lead, health is a human right. We would all agree that everyone has the right to access affordable and quality care at the time when they most need it. The theme for this year builds on last year’s theme by focusing on issues of access and the impact on health outcomes. There are many ways in which nurses can use their voices to lead and enable all Victorians to realise this human right. One such example is: “Ensuring our health services are culturally safe and appropriate for every person”.
This is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the nurses of Timboon and District Healthcare Service (TDHS). TDHS organised an afternoon tea yesterday and invited our colleagues from the Timboon Clinic to join us. It’s important to take the time to recognise our nurses and acknowledge the impact that they are making on the lives of the people in their care.
“Thank you to all the nurses and midwives for your ongoing care, compassion, commitment and dedication to providing safe care.”
