25 Jun Amazing start to 2021 Annual Appeal for a TDHS Community Bus
It’s only been a few weeks since we launched our 2021 Annual Appeal to help fund a TDHS Community Bus and we have been overwhelmed by the early response.
Today, we reached the $35,000 mark – almost a quarter of the way to the $160,000 purchase price of the mini bus.
Chief executive officer Rebecca Van Wollingen said the generosity of the local community continued to amaze her.
“We are extremely grateful for the amazing response from our community towards our Annual Appeal for the TDHS Community Bus,” she said.
“In only two weeks, we have already surpassed the amazing amount raised during last year’s Annual Appeal. At this rate we will have a bus in no time, thanks to our wonderful kind and caring community members.”
TDHS Community Engagement Officer Sabine McKenzie said donations had been received via cash, cheque, money order, direct deposit and online via the TDHS website.
“Some donations included thoughtful comments as well like, ‘wonderful item for the hospital groups to use’ as well as ‘let’s make the wheels on the bus go round and round for mum and her mates’ and ‘keep up the great work!,” Mrs McKenzie said.
“Having our own bus will mean so much to our Social Support Group (SSG) Clients; it will have a hoist which makes it possible for clients with a disability to use it.
“There won’t be any restrictions on availability or time restraints and it will free up our Community Transport volunteers to take community members to vital medical appointments around the district.
“Thank you again for all those that have donated so far; your kind and generous donation is greatly appreciated.”
If you are still considering making a donation for tax purposes, there is still time and TDHS would love for you to jump on board our Annual Appeal bus. Donations can be made online here https://www.timboonhealthcare.com.au/donate/
“The population in our beautiful part of the world is aging and the need for services that allow people to live at home, in good health and in good spirits will only grow,” Mrs McKenzie said.
“This TDHS community bus is an investment in a better future for our whole community and your support will assist in continuing to work together for a healthy community.”
