National Volunteer Week

This week is National Volunteer Week, the premiere celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia. This week as a nation we celebrate and thank the millions of volunteers for the vital role they play in communities across our great country. In the words of Helen Dyer, “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mould the present into a future of which we can all be proud”.

This year National Volunteer Week celebrates the power of volunteering to bring people closer together with the theme Connecting Communities.

At TDHS we know that volunteering creates lasting relationships that enrich lives and strengthens the community in which we live.

We at TDHS take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our team of volunteers, past and present for their spirit of connection and the incredible impact they have had on building our thriving and inclusive community. Our community is a great example and supportive evidence that giving to others truly fosters community engagement, connection and belonging.

Interested in Volunteering?

If you’ve ever considered giving back to your community, now is a wonderful time to get involved and join the six million Australians that volunteer through organisations like TDHS across the nation. Volunteering with us is a rewarding way to make a difference, meet new people and be part of something meaningful.

We welcome individuals from all walks of life and provide training and support for every volunteer role. Whether you can offer a few hours a week or more, there’s a place for you here as every act, big or small makes a difference in the lives of others, to quote Margaret Mead – “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has”
