Respite Care
Caring for an ageing family member or someone living with disability can at times be physically and emotionally demanding.
TDHS provides respite care services to support carers and families by offering planned short-term care in a safe and supportive environment.
Respite care may be provided:
- In-home
- Facility-based
- Overnight
- During weekends or evenings
Our respite services support individuals living with:
- Physical disability
- Intellectual disability
- Sensory disability
- Age-related health or mobility concerns
Benefits of Respite Care
Respite care can assist families and carers to:
- Attend appointments
- Take holidays or planned breaks
- Participate in social or recreational activities
- Manage work or family commitments
The duration of respite care is determined based on individual needs and service availability.
Every effort will be made to provide support during times of crisis where possible.
Fees and Referrals
Fees apply for respite services and can be discussed directly with the healthcare service.
For facility-based respite, the Assessment Officer can assist with referrals and bookings.
